Care Bears and He-Man cartoons on TV. Hubba-Bubba bubblegum that stays soft n chewy forever. It's a week before Halloween and the Smurfs cartoon fades out to a commercial for the huge Winnebago County Fall Festival at Bishop’s Farm. Mesmerized by images of huge pumpkins, hayrides, midway games and a giant corn maze, you jump up from the couch and shout, "We just gotta go to the Winnebago County Fall Festival, mom!!!” You pull her into the room and point to the big color console TV as the commercial ends with Farmer Bob Bishop declaring, “You just GOTTA see my brother Gordon’s One-Ton Pumpkin!” followed by flashy images of some rock band. Mom tells dad that we absolutely HAVE to go cuz some local band called Cheap Trick will be playing tomorrow night and, “they are SO AWESOME!!” Yes!! Get a good night's sleep, cuz tomorrow we take a road trip!
