The masquerade ball is a classic trope of film & fantasy. Learn the culture and find out what makes a waltz Viennese, how to behave when the Duke asks you to dance, and why vampires love tango but would never, ever samba. In this seminar we will go over the history of partner dancing from the "chaste" dances of the middle ages to modern salsa and hustle. We will conclude with a discussion of how to use this information in writing and games.
