On the one-year anniversary of the brutal battle between Omni-Man and his son Invincible that caused large-scale destruction in several locations worldwide, the city prepares a memorial event to honor those who were lost. Machine Head, the notorious criminal kingpin, sees the gathering as the perfect chance to strike at the unusually large number of superheroes who will be present – proclaiming he will pay a substantial bounty for every superhero successfully taken out.
