You clutch the black, vellum envelope in your clawed talon. “My dearest, this is the third time I’ve tried to send you this profession of my love. Have any of my letters reached you?” 5,000 ducats the wizened wizard paid you to deliver this note. Is it worth it though? Ahead of you, a black, featureless doorway is set into the cliffside. Except the color isn’t so much black as absorbing all light and color. This is the entrance to the lair of the spider queen. Few have survived the journey to the center of her webs. You glance down at your companions. The dwarven fighter seems nervous. But the cleric is strangely calm. What does she? You examine the doorway again for some sign of a lock or a riddle or even hinges. The wizard starts murmuring the words of a Knock spell.
