Life for our chicken-stealing Knaves has gotten tough, especially since the guards of Tristoia's squire have adopted the scorched earth strategy around the company. Roughger (or any other company leader) has long since disappeared, and there is nothing left to do but hang around with no work and no money, or play at who throws stones furthest. Just when it seems they have nothing left to eat, their leader returns to the den and announces pompously: "I have a job for you!"
