Details

Timing:
Fri 3:00 PM - Fri 6:00 PM
Location:
Westin / Senate I
Long Description:
The most important thing to do with writing is to get across ideas. The less space ideas take up, the more ideas you can get across, or the more space you have for impactful design. This workshop starts you on the road to mastering how to write with three goals in mind: clarity, conciseness, and active voice. Together, these three goals will elevate your voice, create audience understanding, and improve your writing impact. In this workshop you will be introduced to writing with clarity, conciseness, and active voice. We will define these terms, explain how they are obtained, and then you will practice editing existing work for these three goals. You will learn telltale signs of obfuscation in writing, and how to fix the problem. In the final project, you will bring two pages of your own writing and work with a team to edit that work for clarity, conciseness, and active voice.
