English is a complicated language! Early Modern English - that's the language of Shakespeare - is even harder. That's probably why most people toss in a little 'thy' and a dash of 'thou' and think they're good. But that couldn't be more inaccurate! My name is Brent Winzek; I’m an English professor, science fiction author, & owner of Space Cadets Studios (an award-winning indie publishing & multimedia company). A niche expertise of mine in theater and performance is understanding, translating, and performing the Early Modern English of Shakespeare. As with our ‘Modern English,’ Early Modern English has many nuances and quirks to master. This workshop builds a basic grasp of easy terms & phrases from my dramaturgy work with undergraduate performers. Attendees partake in acting exercises to engage with the language.
